Community Engagement

Local health departments are the governmental agencies that focus on the health and well being of every person in their jurisdiction, or community. Vested with statutory powers and responsibilities that enable their role, local health departments regularly engage and mobilize community partners—from elected officials and the media, to representatives from the school, health, business and non-profit sectors—to address local public health challenges.

If public health is about communities, engaging the community is the crux of local health department communications.
