Linda is Associate Professor in the Management, Policy and Community Health Division, Associate Dean for Public Health Practice and Director of the Texas Public Health Training Center at the University of Texas School of Public Health. She received her M.S.W.at Wilfrid Laurier University (Canada), her M.B.A. at Radford University (Virginia) and her Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin. Linda has been in public health for more than twenty five years. Over a thirteen year period she had various positions with the Texas Department of Health including health planner, injury epidemiologist and cancer registry director. As an independent contractor she initiated and completed more than fifteen health and human service planning and evaluation activities over a three year period. Clients included: American Heart Association; Texas Department of Health; University of Texas, Department of Sociology; Community Action Network of Travis County; Health Partnership 2000; University of Texas, Health Education; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; University of Texas, School of Nursing Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program; and, Texas Medical Association.
Linda spent eight years with Drexel University School of Public Health. For six of these she was Associate Dean for Academic Affairs taking the school through their first accreditation before relocating back to Texas. During her first two years at Drexel, Linda was 50% time with the School of Public Health and 50% with the Pennsylvania Health Department providing technical assistance to the evaluation unit of the Injury Control Program. At Drexel Linda was PI for a HRSA sponsored prevention research project with HIV positive women. In that role, she oversaw all planning and evaluation activities for the community-based intervention.
