Problem: Communication issues within the health department seemed to stem from internal silos of divisions. With only 22 staff members and much population growth, Wagoner has struggled to keep up with the needs of the county and maintain communication with internal staff.
Process: The Wagoner County Health Department in Oklahoma used the NACCHO Local Health Department Self-Assessment tool along with a quality improvement processes to better understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
Solution: They realized the need address communication issues that prevented the Department from being as effective as it would like. As a result of implementing quality improvement efforts, Wagoner County discovered that information is not always shared with those who need it, and they are taking steps to redesign their communication processes.
