A Practical Guide for Incorporating Hepatitis C Services Into Existing Programs

Awareness of HCV as an important public health issue is growing, but agencies, medical providers, community-based organizations, and others who work with those at risk or infected with HCV must address several key issues:

• prevention of HCV infection;

• identification of people infected with HCV;

• preventing transmission to others;

• capacity for care and treatment;

• provision of support for people living with HCV; and

• education for staff and people at risk.

A wide range of HCV activities can be integrated into existing programs and services relatively easily. Many of the activities discussed in this manual require little or no additional funding and can be incorporated without additional burden on staff or other
organizational resources. This resource provides guidance for implementing this activities.
