Many countries are wrestling with the question of what
can be done to address the serious social inequalities in health that they face. This article introduces the literature on theory-based approaches to the assessment of interventions and applies the logic to actions to tackle social inequalities in health. By doing so, it presents a typology which differentiates
health inequality interventions by their underlying
theories of how and why the measures proposed are
expected to have their impact. It is designed to stimulate debate and understanding among practitioners and policy-makers about the range
of different interventions available and their potential
effectiveness for the task in hand.

Excellent analysis of equity interventions

This paper provides an excellent overview and analysis of the intervention categories. It is a great resource for public health departments as well as community partners as they create new, as well as modify and assess existing intervention strategies that seek to eliminate health inequities.

Case study on tobacco and the socioeconomic inequalities surrounding is included and is quite interesting. Old approach of individual cessation programs vs. holistic approach of ending subsidies to farmers who grow tobacco. Good Read.
