Smoke-Free Policy Guidelines for State Health Departments

Description:

While the number of comprehensive smoke-free laws has increased among states over time, there are still opportunities for greater protection from secondhand smoke. Additional policies are needed to increase the number of smoke-free worksites, multiple dwelling units, homes, healthcare settings, and outdoor venues. The following action plan outlines concrete steps state tobacco control programs can take to assist local health departments and local boards of health in passing smoke-free policies to regulate secondhand smoke exposure.
