Developed in 2010 by Public Health-Seattle & King County, this toolkit is for LHDs who want to create and foster partnerships with the pharmacy community, as well as enhance their medication distribution and dispensing strategies. This toolkit is designed to help jurisdictions with limited or no previous planning in engaging community pharmacies. An Internet connection with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome is needed.

An effective and sustainable medication dispensing strategy is a tool that can help your health department foster and develop partnerships with community pharmacies and engage your local or state boards of pharmacy in your preparedness planning processes. The goal of the Developing Effective and Sustainable Medication Dispensing Strategies toolkit is to illustrate how to build effective partnerships between LHDs and community pharmacists for preparedness and response.

This toolkit consists of tools designed to help you through the planning and implementation phases of your medication distribution plan, as well as guidelines and quick tips for those occasions when you need to activate your plan. Each tool is supplemented with links to helpful resources, blank templates, completed samples, and additional background materials. A step-by-step guide, examples of presentations, and talking points to help your health department foster relationships with your pharmacy community are also included.
