This resource provides lessons learned about the development and implementation of climate action plans based on the experiences of the Chicago Climate Action Plan (CCAP). The lessons learned in this resource are organized into the following categories:
• Allocate Resources; • Build the Performance Measurement (PM) Community; • Determine the Process; • Set Goals; • Process Data; • Report Progress; • Evaluate Progress; • Obtain a PM Software; and • Benchmark
Each lesson learned is presented by stating the PM issue, the issue that the PM is intended to address, the lesson learned or revelation for that issue, and the benefits of acting on the lesson learned. This resource can be used in concert with the CCAP to provide users with more information and a better sense of the process.
Chicago Climate Action Plan Quick Guide to Adaptat By Brendon Haggerty This is very similar to the Chicago "Lessons Learned" document, but provides more guidance on products rather than process. For jurisdictions looking to emulate the Chicago model, this document is very helpful. Between the two, I find this document more helpful than the "Lessons Learned" companion document.
