This GIS-based map interface provides access to US and global climate/weather data. The user selects the type of data required, and then uses a GIS interface to view the available stations, and select the stations of interest.
This tool also provides over 2000 climate maps of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. These full color maps for climatic elements such as temperature, precipitation, snow, wind, pressure, etc., portray the climate of the U.S. The period of record of the data for most of the maps is 1961-1990. Most of the maps can be ordered in a high resolution Adobe PDF format, or as ESRI Shape Files.
In addition to the map interface and climate maps, this tool also provides access to information about the following:
• Global surface data;
• Extreme weather and climate events;
• Charts and graphs;
• National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Charts;
• Climate maps of the US;
• Climate Reference Network; and
• Climate normals.
