State of the Climate National Overview February 2012

Description:

This website provides users with the most recent national climate overview, as well as allowing users to access national overview reports from past months and years. Users are able to find maps and graphics about temperature and precipitation ranks, U.S. percentage areas, U.S. Climate Extremes Index, and climatological rankings. In addition to climate highlights, this resource also provides information about the year-to-date, cold season, 12-month period, and more.  
This resource also provides regional highlights provided by the six Regional Climate Centers and reflect conditions in their respective regions. Information is provided for the following regions:
• Northeast;
• Midwest;
• Southeast;
• High Plains;
• Southern; and
• Western.
Links to additional data resources, including regional climate centers, are provided throughout the national overview website

Good climate data site

This NOAA site is a good resource to obtain current and past climate data and trends.  Users can download and visualize data both at a state and national level, making it useful for health departments to review trends and understand how climate in their region behaves.
