Keywords / Description:
NACCHO is pleased to release this compilation of innovative approaches to collaboration and creative health-promoting activities that resulted from local health department (LHD)-school partnerships. The publication also includes some of the lessons LHDs have learned through working with their school systems. The goal of Building Healthier Schools, the second volume in the Building Healthier Communities Compendium Series, is to provide LHDs with case studies of peers who have developed strong relationships with the educational community to combat issues of poor nutrition and physical inactivity. In addition, the compendium offers information about national programs and resources available to LPHAs and discusses the common threads and challenges throughout all of these success stories to be aware of when undertaking such endeavors.
