||Mass clinic for high risk children proves effective
|Description of Issue(s):
We had a very effective and controlled targeted clinic for high risk children held at our local high school.
|Actions taken to address the issue(s):
||We sent a letter from the Health Commissioner to all the children that were identified as being medically fragile that attend school and those home schooled students. This effort was coordinated with our local school superintendent/administration, school nurses, and local police department. We also provided vaccine for those that accompanied them (in the Priority 1 group).
|Outcomes that resulted from actions taken:
||We are currently sending Public Health Nurses to the homes for those that are severely medically fragile and continue risk communication through the schools, provider's offices and the community. We are also pushing vaccine out to pediatricians in our jurisdiction and assessing the need and gaps of unvaccinated children through our providers and the schools.
