||The Lapeer County Health Department maintain email list serves for various groups of community stakeholders. The health officer began to receive questions from employers related to CDC guidance on employee isolation and vaccination. We developed a program for employers, based on CDC guidelines. It became evident quite quickly that many of these issues had employment law implications. Although employers wanted to comply with guidelines, they also needed answers to their legal concerns (such as requiring a physician's confirmation of illness, mandating vaccine for employees, etc.)
|Actions taken to address the issue(s):
||We scheduled a one-hour program for employers with a legal team with HR expertise, who offered to provide this serve at no charge, on videoconference. This approach really helped to answer employers questions and clarify their options from an employment law perspective.
|Outcomes that resulted from actions taken:
||We had very good attendance both from our county and from neighboring counties. While we did not formally evaluate the program we received many, many thanks and positive comments about this program.
