||Meeting demand with limited vaccine supply
|Description of Issue(s):
||There was a great and building demand for vaccine on the part of both the public and providers with limited vaccine supply.
|Actions taken to address the issue(s):
||Vaccine first distributed to health care workers at participating providers and mass vacc clinic held at LHD for non participating providers. All vaccine distributed as fairly as possible to private sector only, until sufficient vaccine for a mass vacc clinic as well as ongoing private distribution. Local drug and big box stores brought in early for antiviral distrution and later vaccine distribution. LHD worked with 2-1-1 to schedule appoints in 15 minute intervals to be able to manage throughput so that 10K people a day could be vaccinated with less than 20 minutes from arrival to exit. Opened access to general public before rest of state to get more vaccine into arms before the falling off of interest after the Christmas Holidays.
|Outcomes that resulted from actions taken:
||Now have the confidence that we can effeciently and effectively vaccinate the public in a short period of time if need be and we can scale both up and down. More importantly, we can do it in a way that the public and the media find amazing after seeing how quickly we can move people through. Mechanisms are now set up so that we can quickly mobilize a large number of vaccinators and volunteers to handle almost any situation.
