Viral Hepatitis and Your Local Health Department: Identifying Resources, Sharing Strategies, and Discussing Opportunities for your LHD and Community
The 2012 NACCHO Annual Conference showcased a number of sessions on local public health resources and strategies, including "Viral Hepatitis and Your Local Health Department: Identifying Resources, Sharing Strategies, and Discussing Opportunities for your LHD and Community." At this pre-conference session, attendees connected with leadership from the CDC’s Division of Viral Hepatitis and learned new strategies for addressing hepatitis B and C in their communities. Geoff Beckett, PA-C, MPH, Chief of the Prevention Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention’s Division of Viral Hepatitis (DVH), presented on DVH’s current priorities; participants discussed successes, challenges to, and strategies for hepatitis vaccination; and all received training and hands-on-experience with the enhanced version of "NACCHO’s Adult Hepatitis B Virus Vaccination: An Implementation Guide for Local Public Health."
