Collaborate for Healthy Weight
|
Building on nearly a decade of quality improvement work in this field, NICHQ, together with a Consortium of organizations and individuals with exceptional knowledge, experience, reach and capabilities, will establish a Prevention Center for Healthy Weight (PCHW) that, in partnership with the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), will plan, implement and manage a nationwide Healthy Weight Collaborative (HWC). At least fifty trans-sectoral teams from around the country will identify, test and implement program and policy changes in their communities to better prevent and treat obesity. The HWC aim is to establish productive partnerships between health care, public health and community-based organizations that will form the basis for sustainable positive community environmental and individual health behavior change ultimately promoting healthy weight.
NACCHO encourages local health departments, schools, community groups, and community coalitions working on childhood obesity to visit the Collaborate for Healthy Weight website for tools, resources and success stories. Collaborate for Healthy Weight provides information and successful strategies on why engaging multi-sector partners, businesses, stakeholders adds value and resources at little to no cost.
