icon_ch100NACCHO’s community health team supports local health department programs and services focused on promoting health and preventing disease through:

  • The development of resources and tools;
  • Provision of technical assistance, continuing education, and capacity building support through demonstration projects; and
  • Facilitation of peer exchange of best practices and tools.

Community health projects address a wide variety of health promotion and disease prevention issues, including chronic disease, HIV/STI, other infectious diseases, injury, adolescent health, reproductive health, immunization, tobacco, primary care, and mental health.

NACCHO's Infectious Disease program worked closely with both internal partners, such as NACCHO's Public Health Preparedness program, and external partners, such as the CDC, during the recent H1N1 outbreak. NACCHO has been providing and continues to provide information and resources on both outbreak response and future planning for H1N1 related activities. More »
