CDC identified children as a priority? group to receive H1N1 vaccine. (Individuals 6 months - 24 years of age.) Approximately 750,000 children attend more than 600 schools in our jurisdiction, Suburban Cook County. |

Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) notified all schools, both public and private that a voluntary immunization program would be offered. CCDPH staff coordinated with participating school administrators, developed a legal memorandum of understanding, conducted parent community information meetings, organized vaccine distribution? delivery plans, recruited volunteers, and managed media outreach.? |
| Outcomes that resulted from actions taken: |
To date, November 25, 2009 approximately 44,000 children have been vaccinated. The vaccinations occurred over 15 days. Schools are currently scheduled through the month of December.? |
