NACCHO and APA have worked to ascertain the views of local planners and public health professionals on the connection between land use planning/community design and public health. Multidisciplinary focus groups examined chronic disease, social justice, traffic safety, and collaboration in general. Further, a national survey of planners and health officials was administered, and data are being triangulated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with data from the National Association of Counties and the International City/County Management Association. More »
