Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology
|
Local health departments and their partners must have adequate data-related capacity and infrastructure to develop effective policy and programs to address the needs of MCH populations. Monitoring the health status of women, children, and families is a high priority for most local health departments; however, many health departments do not have sufficient capacity to carry out essential public health functions. Local health departments expressed a need for assistance in locating data sources, identifying best practices in health monitoring, and gathering information about available resources. Additionally, they reported a need for training programs, capacity building, and non-peer technical assistance to enhance MCH epidemiology-related activities. NACCHO has compiled a list of resources to assist local health departments in these areas.
