Smoke-free Policy Development at the Local Level

This webcast informed local health department (LHD) staff on how to develop and advocate for smoke-free policies at the local level.  Model ordinances, preemption, current statistics, and other items were discussed.  Speakers included Annie Tegen from Americans for Nonsmokers Rights, Cathy Wendholt-McDade from Cobb & Douglas County Public Health, and Eileen Fisher from Clean Air For Everyone (CAFE). Individual PowerPoint presentations and a recording of the entire webcast are available.

Updated Joint Policy Statement on Tobacco Use Prevention and Control

Wanting to protect people from unnecessary illness and death and recognizing that use of tobacco products is one of the great threats to public’s health, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, NACCHO, and the National Association of Local Boards of Health jointly offer the newly updated “Joint Policy Action Steps toward Tobacco Use Prevention and Control.”  More »
