THE TARRANT COUNTY ADVANCED PRACTICE CENTER
The Tarrant County Advanced Practice Center is a resource for local health departments nationwide as it develops plans and builds local and regional capacity for responding to an act of bioterrorism or other public health emergency. The APC is a partnership among Tarrant, Dallas, Denton, and Collin Counties.

Responding to Chemical and Radiological Disasters – A Self-Paced Training Course
This interactive CD training tool is organized along two basic learning tracks starting with the basics of radiation and toxicology, followed by the role of public health in radiological disasters, and more detailed training on radiological and chemical incidents. All-hazards modules introducing mass triage, decontamination, and the use of personal protective equipment are also included. The CD contains supplemental videos and additional training resources from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). How the Tarrant County APC is Addressing the APC Focus Areas: Building partnerships and collaborating with traditional first responders: Preparing Your Business for Emergencies, Natural and Man-Made Disasters: A CD-ROM toolkit designed to assist administrators of small- to mid-sized businesses in preparing for emergencies and disasters. Workforce development and training: Building a Public Health Community of Practice – A Biosurveillance Resource Compendium: A CD toolkit intended to help public health agencies implement an effective, comprehensive biosurveillance program. Designing, Implementing, and Evaluating a Public Health Exercise - A Dirty Bomb Disaster: A DVD-based interactive training course designed to assist public health and emergency management professionals in designing and conducting a full-scale disaster exercise. Mass Triage Interactive Training – A Short Course: A CD train-the-trainer toolkit that provides refresher and just-in-time training in triage methods for public health and healthcare providers responding to mass casualty incidents (MCI) involving hazardous agents. Medical Reserve Corps Self-Paced Training Courses for Medical and Non-Medical Volunteers: This CD-ROM is a self-paced training designed for Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers, both medical and non-medical. PPE, Decontamination, and Mass Triage – A Short Course: A DVD training tool that provides introductory level and refresher training in three critical competency areas for public health and healthcare providers responding to mass casualty incidences (MCI) involving hazardous agents. Planning and Implementing a Public Health Exercise for Radiological Events: An Exercise Guide: A rich resource tool utilizing tools previously developed by the Tarrant County APC to provide guidance on performing a public health-focused radiological exercise. Responding to Chemical and Radiological Disasters – A Self-Paced Training Course: An interactive CD training tool targeted at public health and healthcare professionals starting with the basics of radiation and toxicology, followed by the role of public health in radiological disasters, and more detailed training on radiological and chemical incidents.
