NACCHO received funds from the National Center for Health Marketing at the CDC to improve communication capacity in local health departments for pandemics and other public health emergencies. NACCHO worked with the St. Louis Heartland University School of Public Health to identify pandemic influenza communication leaders within select local health departments and describe the communication and information networks used to engage partners and facilitate information exchange between local, state, and federal partners during a pandemic or other public health emergency.
