All-Hazards Preparedness Integration and Policy

NACCHO is committed to assisting local health departments (LHDs) in their preparedness efforts. By strengthening LHDs’ ability to efficiently and effectively respond to public health emergencies, this project aims to:

  • Describe the strengths and challenges LHDs experience in developing, implementing, and integrating public health preparedness plans and strategies within their department, the community and the broader public health system;
  • Advance the capacity of LHDs and their communities by providing access to technical assistance and guidance to more effectively plan, respond, and recover from emerging health threats and other public health emergencies; and
  • Facilitate and promote the development of local and state policies that support and sustain the LHD’s role in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters and other public health emergencies.
