Seasonal Leadership and Training Summit
2012–2013 Seasonal Leadership and Training Summit
The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) and the Division of Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps (DCVMRC) are pleased to announce the new MRC Seasonal Leadership and Training Summits for 2012-2013.
Each of the 3-day summits is designed to maximize this training opportunity for the entire MRC network through a common platform of instruction and activities that are timely and relevant to unit leaders. The agenda will serve as a consistent foundation across all three summits and will include a selection of training workshops, break-out sessions, and opportunities for leadership discussions. Participants will also have the added benefit of networking with unit leaders from around the country.
Each of these summits will be held at a training facility in Northern Virginia. The summits will be offered during the following dates:
FEBRUARY 2013 UPDATE: The Summit At-a-Glance provides an overview of the Summit agenda, meeting space, and sessions. The list of attendees from the February Summit is here.
An application is required from those who wish to attend, and the application must be completed online at www.naccho.org. No paper or email applications will be accepted. Only unit leaders or their official unit designee are eligible to apply. The application period for all three summit travel scholarships will open on October 3 and close on October 17, 2012, at 5 PM EDT.
Other Application Information
During the application process, applicants will be given the opportunity to indicate, by order of preference, which of the three summits they would like to attend; however, this does not guarantee your attendance based on your preference. We recommend that all applicants secure tentative travel approvals from their local authorities for all three summit dates as soon as possible. An application does not guarantee you will receive this travel scholarship.
These scholarships are non-transferable and must be used by the applicant of record on the Notice of Award (NOA). Only those who have received a NOA are eligible to attend. Those selected to attend the summit in late fall will receive a NOA in November. Those selected for the summits in late winter or late spring will receive a NOA in January.
Due to logistical limitations, you must be awarded a travel scholarship in order to attend. Capacity Building Awards or other funding mechanisms may not be used to attend any of the summits.
The 2012-2013 Seasonal Leadership and Training Summits application period opens on October 3, 2012, and closes on October 17, 2012, at 5 PM EDT.
Applications must be completed online at the NACCHO website (www.naccho.org). To access the NACCHO log-in page, click here. Once logged on, the applications will be listed under the NACCHO Applications tab on the left hand side of your screen. For detailed guidance on logging in to the NACCHO system, click here.
All applications must be submitted online. No paper or email applications will be accepted.
Scholarship and Travel Information
The travel scholarships include airfare (travel by car must be pre-approved by NACCHO's MRC Project Director in advance), the designated shuttle service to/from the airport/training center, and prescribed accommodation expenses at the training facility.
If awarded, scholarship recipients must complete their travel arrangements and submit confirmation of travel plans to NACCHO prior to the travel deadline specified in the NOA. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the travel scholarship. No exceptions or extensions will be granted for failing to complete your travel arrangements as prescribed.
NACCHO will fill the vacancies from forfeited scholarships from other eligible applicants on the official waiting list. Unit leaders or their designees are not authorized to transfer their travel scholarship.
If you have any questions about the summits, please email NACCHO MRC project staff at email@example.com. When emailing, please be sure to include the unit leader's or official unit designee's name, phone number, email address, and MRC unit number in the body of your email.
