NACCHO has two goals in its work on policy issues specific to emergency preparedness:

  • To provide candid input to federal government agencies developing preparedness policies and programs that have an impact on local public health agencies.
  • To communicate relevant information regarding these federal policy initiatives to local public health agencies.

To achieve these goals, NACCHO works with a variety of federal entities, including CDC, HRSA, and the Department of Homeland Security, and collaborates with other non-governmental partners.
