In the Spotlight
Ambulance

NACCHO wishes solace to the families who lost loved ones and a speedy recovery to all those affected by the Boston Marathon bombings. We appreciate the capabilities and resilience of first and continuing responders. During this period of healing, we cannot stress enough that all disasters, both natural and man-made, strike locally and emergency preparedness must continue to be a national priority.

Local health departments prepare communities for disasters and respond when emergencies occur. They also work closely with community partners such as Medical Reserve Corps units, first responders, hospitals, mental health professionals, and social workers to recover from a crisis and to prevent future tragedies from occurring.

Below are resources to share with community partners, individuals, and families to aid in their recovery and for local health department preparedness training. More »
