Each year, thousands of toddlers are irreparably harmed by the very homes in which they live. Understanding the need for effective primary lead poisoning prevention tools at the local level, Berrien County Health Department, Healthy Homes Coalition of West Michigan, and Public Health-Muskegon County worked in collaboration to develop a guide, Tool Book for Initiating Effective Policy Change: What You Can Do in Your Community to Protect Children from Lead Poisoning, for local agencies that are looking to eliminate lead poisoning in their communities. Following their PACE EH processes, Indian River and Escambia Counties conducted post-assessment surveys. The goal of their survey work was to assess quantitatively how the community members felt about the changes that occurred in response to their initial community needs assessment.
