Foodborne Illness Systems Olmsted County Public Health Service Background/Project Description Their demonstration project will develop a food borne illness toolkit that clearly documents existing protocols and addresses their community's identified gaps and barriers food borne illness outbreak investigation. Major Objectives: Develop a multi-lingual audio visual tool (DVD) to view in the establishment at the onset of the outbreak investigation Provide "conversational" Spanish speaking instruction for investigation staff Develop a staff training tool on the effective use of interpreters during outbreak investigations Use the FDA's Voluntary National Food Program Standard No.5 as a guide to enhance data tracking systems to evaluate trends in food borne illness complaints Use and evaluate the EHS-Net food flow and outbreak documents during outbreak investigations Project Contacts: Pete Giesen Dawn Beck |
