Since the early 1990s, guidelines have recommended preconception care, and reviews of previous studies have assessed the evidence for interventions and documented the evidence for specific interventions. LHDs ensure the delivery of preconception care-related services to promote the health and well-being of women and infants. In instances where services are not directly provided, LHDs play a role in ensuring the delivery of these services through a system of collaboration and referrals to other community healthcare providers. |
