A fishbone diagram is a brainstorming tool that can be used to identify potential root causes of a specific health issue. The health issue is first described on the right (in this case, type II diabetes). Then, factors are identified that may be affecting the health issue. For each factor identified, continue to ask "why does that happen?" and attach that information as another bone or branch to the left. This will help get you to the true drivers of a problem.
