NPHPSP

National Public Health Performance Standards Program (NPHPSP) is designed to measure public health practice at the state and local levels. NPHPSP supports three assessment tools—the local, state, and governance instruments. The local instrument—also one of the assessment tools in the MAPP process where it is called the local public health system assessment—assesses the capacity of the local public health system to conduct the 10 essential public health services.

*Funding to Support State-Wide Implementation of the local Instrument*

In order to support the use of the NPHPSP local instrument, NACCHO will provide funding to organizations supporting a state-wide implementation of the updated NPHPSP local instrument—or version 2.  For more information, download the State-Wide Implementation of the Local Instrument RFP.

*NPHPS Instruments Updated*

All three instruments—The State Public Health System, Local Public Health System and Governance Assessment Instruments—have been updated and streamlined. The draft versions (not for data collection purposes) are on the CDC's Web site; the final versions will be released later in this calendar year, pending OMB approval, anticipated in September. Further information is available through the CDC's Performance Standards Web site. Contact NPHPSP staff at phpsp@cdc.gov or (800) 747-7649 with any questions.
