
Curriculum
Survive and Thrive will address five specific competencies that LHOs need to achieve as the basis for success upon completing the program. These identified competencies are:
1. Clearly describe their role and responsibilities within their local health department (LHD) and their LHD’s roles and responsibilities within their local public health system, to their staff and a variety of public audiences
2. Effectively engage elected officials, governing boards and the state health department in carrying out the roles and responsibilities of the their LHD
3. Effectively manage their LHD including providing oversight and direction of strategic planning and the agency’s human, financial, and information resources
4. Effectively engage community partners in developing local public health systems for community health improvement and community preparedness initiatives
5. Rapidly access peer and coaching resources that may assist in developing leadership skills for addressing and resolving problems and issues that challenge local health officials
