Accreditation and QI, New Hampshire

New Hampshire is a state with a decentralized public health structure; health services are delivered through an array of community-based agencies. In 2004, a new Bureau of Policy and Performance Management was created to continually assess and improve the performance of programs and services.

At the local level, each of New Hampshire's 14 Public Health Networks has completed a local public health systems assessment using the National Public Health Performance Standards Program-local instrument and developed an improvement plan based on the results of the assessment.

New Hampshire also participates in the Multi-State Learning Collaborative (MLC) project, which assesses quality improvement strategies to enhance the work of public health departments.
