PHAB administers the voluntary national accreditation program for state, local, territorial, and tribal health departments. Please visit their site for more information -

National Public Health Improvement Initiative

Local and State Health Departments funded under the Affordable Care Act, National Public Health Improvement and Capacity Building Initiatives will receive direct Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) and support in the form of TA, training, tools, resources, and support that will enhance health department capacity to improve internal practices, increase efficiencies and develop and support new infrastructure and systems to increase their effectiveness and efficiency, subsequently enhancing the public health infrastructure and improving health.
