The ICD-10 Transition

As of Oct. 1, 2013 any entity that is covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), will be required to adopt ICD-10-CM (Clinical Modifications) and ICD-10-PCS (Procedure Coding System) Final Rule (CMS-0013-F). ICD-10-CM is the updated diagnosis code revision to ICD-9-CM. The ICD-10-CM will enable significant improvements in care management, public health reporting, research, and quality measurement.
