NACCHO wishes to thank all LHDs that completed the 2013 National Profile of Local Health Departments. There were many people who made this year's Profile survey a success - staff at local health departments, leaders at SACCHO's and state health departments, NACCHO's Executive Director and Board of Directors, the Profile Workgroup, public health researchers and leaders, the Profile Team, NACCHO staff, and family and loved ones who support all of us in our work. Thanks to everyone! Toward the end of 2013 NACCHO will publish the main report of findings which will be available on our website. Profile-IQ provides users with easy access to 2010 statistics on finance, workforce, and activities from the 2010 National Profile of Local Health Departments study. The system allows for customized queries based on characteristics of local health departments, e.g., size of jurisdiction population. NACCHO has created GIS boundary shapefiles based on standard FIPS codes for jurisdictions served by local health departments (LHDs) in the U.S. These shapefiles reflect the LHDs that met the definition of a local health department at the time of the 2008 and 2010 National Profile of Local Health Departments studies. To download the GIS shapefiles, please complete the submission form. NACCHO's Profile Study is the only source of information collected on a regular basis on important aspects of Local Health Department infrastructure including workforce, funding, and activities. Researchers have recognized the importance of this data source which contributes to the evidence base for local public health practice and policy decisions. NACCHO has created a bibliography of peer reviewed publications and conference presentations using Profile Study data. |
