Health Equity Campaign

NACCHO collaborated with California Newsreel on the 2008 PBS documentary series Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick?. With the support of the California Endowment, NACCHO formed the Health Equity Campaign to help over 100 local health departments convene town hall meetings, community dialogues, and other public events to screen the film and discuss actions to tackle health inequity. NACCHO also provided study guides and technical assistance for LHDs using the film internally and externally.

Health Equity Campaign partners received a complimentary Unnatural Causes DVD and convened screening events, community dialogues, and training sessions across the county. Copies of the film are still available and can be requested by emailing Richard Hofrichter at rhofrichter@naccho.org.
