Particular attention is given to case studies from communities examining how racial and class divisions create inequities in health status and strategies to eliminate them.

A Compendium of State and Local Models Addressing Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health
This publication includes descriptions of state and local public health agency programs that address health disparities. These programs reflect the diversity of strategies being used to meet community needs and target problems such as chronic disease, poor access to care, environmental health, and teen pregnancy. The compendium includes additional resources for state and local public health agencies and their partners.

Case Studies of State and Local Models Addressing Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health
NACCHO and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) released a series of case studies featuring state and local public health programs that address racial and ethnic disparities in health. This compendium provides information on priority health issues, collaborative efforts, barriers encountered, and strategies used to promote evaluation and sustainability of these programs. Health Equity and Social Justice: Selected References

The Social Justice Selected Bibliography, updated twice a year, documents some of the extensive range of literature on health inequities and social justice. It includes empirical studies, theoretical research, and public policy analysis. The bibliography helps local public health authorities understand the relationship between social/economic inequality and health inequity and how to address those inequities in practice.
