The Department of Homeland Security’s National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) hosted the 2013 Critical Infrastructure Partnership Advisory Council (CIPAC) Annual Plenary, which took place on Nov. 5. The CIPAC Plenary furthers NPPD’s mission to protect the Nation’s critical infrastructure by offering a forum for public and industry leaders to provide updates on activities, initiatives, and goals within the 18 critical infrastructure sectors. In addition to representatives from the 18 sectors, a large number of partners, both public and private, engaged in open dialogue about critical infrastructure security and resilience planning.
The meeting included discussions on cybersecurity policy implementation (PPD-21 and EO 13636); improving situational awareness for decisionmakers; and priorities for critical infrastructure security and resilience. Speakers and participants included representatives from the Sector Coordinating Councils; Government Coordinating Councils, Federal Senior Leadership Council, State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Government Coordinating Council, Regional Consortium Coordinating Council; and the National Council of Information Sharing and Analysis Centers.
