Attend Radiation Forum Sessions to Increase Radiation Preparedness Knowledge
The 2019 Preparedness Summit is just weeks away! The Summit will take place March 26-29 at the America’s Center Convention Complex in St. Louis, MO. This year at the summit, there will be a wide range of sessions and workshops available, including sessions on Radiation Preparedness. The summit will feature a Radiation Forum, consisting of four sessions brought to you by a consortium of organizations including the Radiation Injury Treatment Network (RITN), the National Alliance for Radiation Readiness (NARR), and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO):
- WS-1 (Workshop) – Starting from Ground Zero: A Radiation Preparedness Planning Workshop for Health Departments that Have Done Little to No Previous Radiation Preparedness Planning – Tuesday, March 26, 1:30 – 5:00 p.m.
- F-01 (Learning Session) – Public Health Strike Team Training Development for Radiological Response – Wednesday, March 27, 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
- G-07 (Learning Session) – National Academy of Medicine Workshop on Exploring Medical and Public Health Preparedness for a Nuclear Incident – Thursday, March 28, 10:30 a.m. – noon*
- G-12 (Learning Session) – REMM web site: up to date information for health care professionals about radiation mass casualty incidents from HHS/BARDA – Thursday, March 28, 10:30 a.m. – noon*

Provide Input During a Radiation Workshop
This two-part pre-conference workshop held on Monday, March 25, 2019 from 1:00-4:30PM CT will focus on population monitoring training and tools for radiological emergency planning. In part one, the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD) will be seeking input from public health professionals involved in radiological preparedness to determine training needs for future train-the-trainer workshops and tools needed to operate community reception centers (CRCs). In part 2, presenters will discuss a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tool that helps transform existing point of dispensing site plans into CRC plans.
