2023 Virtual and In-Person Course Dates for CERT Train-the-Trainer and Program Manager Released

FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute (EMI) will offer the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Train-the-Trainer and the CERT Program Manager courses online this fall and in 2023. Most will be held virtually, but several will be in person at EMI’s Emmitsburg, Maryland campus. During in-person, classes both the Train-the-Trainer and Program Manager courses will be delivered together in five-day sessions during one week. The classes are offered at no cost.

CERT Train-the Trainer (K0428)

This course prepares participants to deliver the FEMA’s CERT Basic Training course. Except for the two in-person options, all classes will be delivered in a completely virtual environment, via Adobe Connect.

The audience for this course includes those who will have or currently have either of the following responsibilities: Serves as the course manager for the CERT Basic Training course or serves as a CERT Basic Training course instructor.

All classes, except where noted, meet online 1:00-5:00 PM ET three days a week for two consecutive weeks. Students must attend all sessions.

2023 Dates

  • January 30, 31, February 1, in person
  • February 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16
  • March 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16
  • April 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20
  • May 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25
  • June 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15
  • August 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10
  • September 11, 12, and 13, in person

Prerequisites:

Participants in this course must have:

  1. A referral from a CERT-sponsoring agency, typically a local, regional, or state government agency.
  2. If you are not a first responder, the CERT Basic Training is required.
  3. For current first responders, IS-317: Introduction to CERT, will familiarize you with the CERT Program.

To Apply:

CERT Program Manager (K0427)

This course prepares participants to establish and sustain an active local CERT program. The audience for this course includes professionals and volunteers who are designated to be or are interested in being appointed as a local CERT Program Manager, or for those already in a CERT Program Manager position.

As with the CERT Train-the Trainer course, it will be delivered completely online via Adobe Connect, except for the two in-person options.

All classes meet online 1:00-5:00 PM ET for four days in one week, except where noted. Students must attend all sessions.

  • January 24, 25, 26, 27
  • February 2, 3, in person
