The Big Cities Health Coalition published a new blog, Innovating to Reduce Harm in Las Vegas, that highlights the Southern Nevada Health District’s efforts to increase access to clean syringes through vending machines. The article is authored by Dr. Joe Iser, Chief Health Officer of the Southern Nevada Health District, and provides an overview of the vending machines, how they work, and the impact they’ve had in Southern Nevada. The vending machines offer clean syringes, safe sex kits, wound care kits, and information about Medication Assisted Treatment and other resources, and also allow for safe needle disposal.
