CDC Recognizes Four LHD Representatives as 2019 Childhood Immunization Champions

As part of National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Association of Immunization Managers (AIM) announce the recipients of the CDC Childhood Immunization Champion Award. This award recognizes individuals who make significant contributions toward improving public health through their work in childhood immunizations.

Each year, up to one person from each of the 50 U.S. states, 8 U.S. Territories and Freely Associated States, and the District of Columbia is recognized. This year, we’re pleased to announce that there four individuals from local public health agencies have been named Childhood Immunization Champions:

  1. Texas – Robert Resendes, MBA, Director, City of El Paso Dept of Public Health
  2. Kentucky – Becky Underwood, RN, Local Health Nurse, Mercer County Health Department
  3. Minnesota – Gloria Tobias, RN, PHN, Disease Prevention & Control/Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, Countryside Public Health
  4. Nevada – Beth Ennis, MS, APRN, BC-FNP, Community Health Nurse, Tonopah Community Health Clinic
