CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases has released COVID-19 vaccination planning guidance for state, local, and territorial public health departments. CDC encourages jurisdictions to focus on the first phase of COVID-19 vaccination, while at the same time laying the groundwork that will be needed to achieve high coverage in communities when doses are widely available. The following new documents, available to Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) recipients in the Online Technical Resources and Assistance Center (On-TRAC), are designed to support planning for early COVID-19 vaccination when doses may be limited.
- Phase 1 Vaccination Planning Scenarios
- COVID-19 Vaccination Planning Assumptions
- Early COVID-19 Vaccination Action Items
These documents are not meant to be interpreted as final guidance or to represent final decisions. CDC anticipates that a number of variables will change before a product is approved, and these scenarios are designed with a high degree of complexity intended to ensure programs are prepared.
