Countermeasures Needed to Overcome the MCM Operational Readiness Review

WANTED: Resources to Help State and Locals Defeat the Medical Countermeasure Operational Readiness Review

As budget period 4 (BP4) grant year gets underway, many state and local health departments have begun preparations for the Medical Countermeasure Operational Readiness Review (MCM ORR) in their jurisdiction. With many local health departments completing the ORR for the first time, there will be a significant learning curve getting accustomed to the new ORR tool and substantial time spent determining which documentation to submit. Whether going through the ORR for the first time or updating the ORR from the previous pilot year review, preparedness planners at the state and local levels have expressed interest in seeing what kinds of documents and evidence meet the “Established” or “Advanced” level of implementation.

NACCHO is calling upon state and local health departments to assist!

State and local health departments can help their peers in need by sharing tools, resources, plans, reports, templates, and other documents that they have submitted or will submit as ORR evidence. Interested persons can share resources in two ways:

  1. Submit a new tool to the MCM Toolkit. Please refer to the instructions in the MCM Toolkit Fact Sheet for additional guidance on submitting new tools. When submitting tools, please indicate which function(s) of the MCM ORR are relevant using the keywords under the MCM ORR heading (within the Public Health Preparedness keyword set).
  2. Send tools to Raymond Puerini ([email protected]) to post in the MCM Toolkit. In your email please provide the following information: name of tool, brief tool description, listing relevant ORR capabilities/functions, tool author, organization name, jurisdiction size, and any relevant attachments or web links.

Looking for back-up to help with the MCM ORR?

Visit the NACCHO MCM webpage for additional resources to help you complete the MCM ORR including links to recent ORR webinars and links to relevant ORR crosswalks.
