COVID Vaccine Strategy Released

Sep 23, 2020 | Beth Hess

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Department of Defense (DoD) have released two documents outlining a strategy to deliver COVID vaccine doses:

The documents provide a strategic distribution overview and an interim playbook for state, tribal, territorial, and local public health programs and their partners on how to plan and operationalize a vaccination response to COVID-19 within their respective jurisdictions. (Read the HHS press release). Please note, that CDC Immunization and Vaccines for Children Cooperative Agreement funding recipients (which includes states, territories, and six big cities) are required to develop and submit vaccination plans, based on this interim playbook, to CDC by October 16, 2020. If your local health department is not a direct funding recipient of the CDC Immunization and Vaccines for Children Cooperative Agreement, please contact and coordinate with your state health department to ensure that your local health department is engaged.
