CDC has issued a Dear Colleague letter that provides guidance regarding the provision of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) services during the COVID-19 pandemic. CDC affirms that PrEP care is an essential health service and that providers should continue to ensure the availability of PrEP for new and existing patients. CDC also identifies strategies that providers can use to conduct quarterly HIV testing, including at-home testing; recommends providing patients with a 90-day supply of medication to minimize visits to the pharmacy; and encourages the use of referrals or telemedicine to maintain PrEP services.
