Open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) began November 1, 2016 at healthcare.gov. There are several resources, which can support local health departments and partner agencies to employ inclusive measures ensuring all community members, including individuals with disabilities are able to participate in the open enrollment period.
The Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities created a brochure entitled “Time to Check Your Health Insurance” to promote open enrollment among people with disabilities. While, the National Disability Navigator Resource Collaborative developed additional resources for healthcare insurance marketplace navigators to improve disability literacy for assisting individuals with disabilities with enrollment.
