In December 2023, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) selected 11 Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmakers (Grantmakers) to receive $600 million to serve as pass-through entities nationwide through the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program (EJ TCGM) cooperative agreements. The Grantmakers will operate across ten regional programs and three national programs - all are in the process of launching and several have already opened funding opportunities.
Eligibility: The awards are intended for community-based organizations and other eligible organizations to support the planning, assessment, and development of community-based environmental justice projects.
How it works: Each regional Grantmaker will be awarding $40 million in grants spread over the three-year period through a range of non-competitive and competitive funding awards - from $75,000 for a one-year foundational support project to up to $350,000 for a two-year development project; with additional awards available from the national Grantmakers as well. Visit EPA’s TCGM website to learn more and identify your Grantmaker(s) or check out the programs directly using the links below.
