The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is holding an open comment period to begin the week of June 13-17, 2016 for its draft Drinking Water Protective Action Guide (PAG) and Planning Guidance for Radiological Incidents. This guidance was created for use in the event of a radiological emergency, as a precaution to the likelihood of radioactive material penetrating rivers, lakes and streams used by public water suppliers. Its purpose is to inform and guide the decision-making process for state and local officials on how to best protect their community from contaminated drinking water as a result of radiation exposure. Once this guidance is published on the Federal Register, individuals will have 45 days to submit their comments. A pre-publication copy is currently available for download at this link.
